SAI Photography

I had the privilege of being able to exhibit some of the images from the ‘Girls Like Us’ project at an event to celebrate Womens achievements on International Womens day.

The event was held at Google Campus in London and was professionally put together by Impact and Beyond ( http://www.impactandbeyond.com)

‘Girls Like Us’ got a massively positive response and new participants signed up on the day to take part.

Please feel free to head over to the facebook page to see more images from the event and the project itself: http://www.facebook.com/gluproject

‘GIRLS LIKE US’ photography portrait exhibition

February 14th, 2015  |  Published in saiphotography  |  Be the first to comment

I have recently started a personal project so thought I should restart this blog to keep you posted on how it is going and what its all about.

The project idea came about after meeting 2 women at a friends birthday dinner. Having met one of them briefly before, somehow the conversation led to her telling me a bit about what she had gone through over the last couple of years. This involved a serious health issue and a relationship breakdown…yet she always seemed so together, confident and professional when I had seen her. The 2nd young lady then opened up about her story which was equally as inspiring. Listening to their stories and thinking of my own, made me realise that there are a lot of stories out there that should be shared…to inspire, educate and support.

I decided to focus on women, as thats what I am. There are lots of gender specific issues that women of all ages go through but there doesn’t seem to be much documentation of this…especially in a visual format.

So it begins….

I will be photographing and chatting with women/ladies/girl of all ages, races and backgrounds. The most important part of this project is that the stories are honest.

Interested in taking part? Please feel free to contact me by email (info@saiphotography.com) with ‘girls like us’ is the subject field for more information on the process.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies 🙂

Exhibition, shooting and fun…

Hi everybody…its been a while I know…my apologies. I’m going to try and keep this more regular from now on.

I haven’t just been lazing around iv been a busy bee working on several projects so here’s the low down on just some of them:

Florence, Italy: I have just returned from Italy where I had my 4th international exhibition and was very proud to be able to showcase my work there and have great feedback from everybody. The exhibition was held at the cultural centre in Firenze (Florence).

Whilst there I was also working on an ongoing transnational project that I mentioned in an earlier post and it is coming together very nicely indeed…next stop for this project is in Germany in August.

I will also be traveling to Barcelona, Spain in September to showcase ‘The Funkin Circus’ which is a hip-hop based circus performance, it will be touring different festivals across Europe. It sounds crazy but in reality it is far more weird and wonderful ?. I will put up a preview of one of the posters created for this as soon as one is available.

I have also been shooting in the studio and some new images have just been uploaded onto the ‘portraits’ section. I have loved working with many make up artists, hair stylists and stylists but want to give a special mention to Sima Rehman and Ru mel who are both amazing and lovely ladies.

Ok I’ve bored you enough, I will continue to bore you with my shenanigans another time.

But just before I go a quick shout out to Bianca Simmone and her upcoming release of her first single ‘pressure’. It’s a banger and I’m proud of her! I just wanted you all to know and to Ty and his amazing album ‘special kind of fool’ and the hot single ‘emotions’ which I was privileged enough to be at and shoot at the video of. .you can check the images on here soon but also at http://www.flavourmag.co.uk/ty-the-revolution-of-hip-hop

Heres the vid:

Ty \'Emotions\'

Went to show some support at Jazz café on Monday and I must say it was fantastic, not only Ty’s performance but also a number of other vocalists he had on stage…they blew me away. I also got to meet a couple of legends which was nice for a Monday evening I must say.

For now chiao!!!

Jay Sean- had the top spot with ‘Down’

October 16th, 2009  |  Published in saiphotography  |  1 Comment

Hey everybody

I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone that has visited this site so far, the response has been a very positive and a little overwhelming…so thank you again.  I hope you continue to make regular trips back to the site to check on updated pieces of work both commissioned and personal.

Iv just returned from 2 weeks abroad, on my return I heard the news that Jay Sean had reached the number 1 spot on the US billboard charts.  That’s pretty impressive for any artist and I just want to say a massive well done to both Jay and the whole Cash Money records team…they’ve worked hard and are now reaping the rewards.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working along side them all on the video for ‘Down’  (featuring Lil Wayne)which reached number 1 but also for ‘Written on her’ which is a Baby (Birdman) track featuring Jay Sean.  Both videos were a hard slog for all involved (and I mean that) but the end results are great.  Hey Buddy the production company behind both of them did a great job I must say :).

Unfortunately i was away when Lil Wayne was is town but i’ll hopefully catch them soon.

You can view some of the images taken from both videos in the ‘Film/Music’ category…check them out and leave comments on thoughts.

So ill leave you for now but ill soon be back with another instalment.

What next???

Ok so as I sit here writing this, iv just had over 14 hours of sleep (and I could have quite easily continued with my zzz marathon if it wasn’t for having to get up and work!), trying to recover from my business trip to Lille…all ill say for now is it was extremely productive and the possibilities for the next two years are looking amazing…this includes projects both in the UK as well as on a transnational basis…keep an eye out for a more detailed blog of what we will be doing and who we will be looking for to get involved…could be a great opportunity for some of you to jump on board.

Here are few shots of the brilliant people ill be continuing to work with on this project….big up the R and R family!

Also before I went away, I attended 2 close friend’s bday’s so just a quick shout out to Yondie and Terri…the event was considerably more successful than the last time we attempted to celebrate Yondie’sbirthday hahaha sorry cant go into any more details than that lol.  I had a great time hun and wish you a massive belated bday mwah xx!!! Look out for this young lady who is doing a lot right now…POW!! As for Terri she is  good friend and busines partner (www.wedding-jewels.co.uk) so i was happy i could attend her bday shenanigans in the end.

Although your reading this on my blog, im actually writing it before it was completed so still have to send a lot of content over to Ian…believe me when I say there are not enough hours in the day at the moment (especially when I spend a lot of it asleep like yesterday lol)…so iv been thinking I need a P.A…never thought id find myself saying that but hey, I cant do everything youll be shocked to hear.

SAIPhotography.com has landed

Hey everyone, welcome and thank you for visiting my site and blog…I know I know its taken a while to get sorted but there were a few problems with the people that started to redesign it but then Ian at digital movement came along and saved the day…I would strongly recommend them.

So what do you think? Be honest people please 🙂

The aim of this site is to showcase some of my work that I have done since I started in photography professionally since the beginning of 2008…there is a story behind how I started and I promise ill write a whole blog on that subject alone!  Some of the images you may have seen before via my facebook (Saira Awan if you haven’t added me yet :)…look out for the group page soon too) etc but iv kept a lot of it under wraps up until this site was up so I could hit you with it at full speed…hope you like what you see.  Going through the images to choose which ones I wanted to display on here has been tough…the main reason for this being the sheer amount of photographs I have taken over the last year and a half…it’s a lot believe me!!

Iv been blessed since undertaking this as my career, a lot of people say iv been lucky but I strongly believe that diligence is the mother of good luck…you can quote me on that 🙂

Well iv chosen some and I’m sure I will be updating the site as and when new shoots have been completed so keep an eye out and spread the word…:)

One of the most important things to me on my journey is successessay.co.uk and just that…the journey!  Iv met some amazing people on my way so far and worked with awesome individuals who are all striving to be the best they can be in what they do so iv attached some images of some of these beautiful faces…may I meet many more !!!
